FUTURSTATE to Show NEW Collection at |FAT| Fashion Art Toronto! 

You are invited to be among the first to see our 2013 collection this April. We will be showing our new line on the runway at Fashion Art Toronto. Come and join us in celebrating Toronto's creative designers & artists. This year the event takes place over five evenings, it includes runway shows, art exhibits, performance and video. Join us for our runway show on Thursday, April 25th. The theme for the evening is "CRISIS" - we feel we are a good match for that!

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of FUTURSTATE, we have taken the challenge to re-envision the brand 10X into the future; the look it has become known for is modern, hard-edged and unflinching. Inspiration for the collection includes sci-fi, fetish, post-apocalyptic visuals, and many dystopian daydreams. This season, the style for men is extremely structured with an industrial utilitarian militant look. For women, the style ranges from sharply refined industrial to a sleek and decadent look, with an underground aristocratic feel. Overall the mood of this collection is striking, powerful and invincible.

|FAT| Arts & Fashion Week celebrates inventive, pioneering and contemporary expression through 50+ runway shows, live performances, fashion films, photography exhibits and art installations. This annual multi-arts event, held every April, features 200 Canadian and International fashion designers and artists each year and welcomes over 5,000 guests; including buyers, curators, the media, and fashion and art lovers in general.

|FAT|  Arts & Fashion Week has a mandate of showcasing artistic disciplines rooted in fashion and their exploration of clothing  in today’s time. The festival emphasizes this mandate through the showcase of fashion design, photography, installation, film, video, performance, music and dance, in an effort to push forward and redefine our perception of the fashion phenomenon.

Black Mirror

Here's a look into the darkly styled imagery featured on the art-driven-photography website, "The Rich and The Beautiful Will Be Eaten First". I love the concept and name of this art vs. fashion photography website! A couple of private costume pieces that I have built (Laura X) are shown in this decadent editorial, Black Mirror. Look for the horned headdress and fur / feather harness shrug! And special thanks to my Dad for just happening to have a pair of horns stashed in his workshop! It's a little different from FUTURSTATE, but I thought I'd include it here for your viewing pleasure.

Dissension!! Editorial from Auxiliary Magazine

A few months back these stunning images were featured in a spread for Auxiliary Magazine Issue 22. They were conceptualized and created by stylist, Tasha Farrington and photographer Adam Zivo. The landscape is downtown Toronto, in an alleyway near my studio location. Definitely looks more interesting and rather dystopian captured on film. The designers featured in "Dissension" are mostly Canadian designers including FUTURSTATE as well as my alter-ego collection, Victory & Vice Hope you enjoy them!

This June, we are welcoming everyone to our new studio / boutique for "FUTURSTATE FRIDAYS". 

Been busy these days spiffing up the studio! Loving the notion of combining workspaces with boutiques so much that we have dedicated some of our space for a mini-boutique! 

This June we are opening up our studio on Friday afternoons for a peek behind the scenes - making ...our gear available right where it's made. Here's your chance to be part of the action - visit our design studio to get a feel for the design process while stocking up on some fantastic gear for all the upcoming events happening this summer!

NEW items for summer will be released each Friday. Custom orders are welcome and there's a pretty awesome sale rack so be sure to come by and grab some deals ;)
